A well-designed post-production workflow ensures that media is handled consistently, efficiently, and without loss of quality at every stage. Key elements of a post-production workflow include media ingest and organization, transcoding (creating proxies), offline editing, online conform, color grading, sound post-production, VFX integration, and final delivery.
The post-production supervisor presents the proposed workflow to the production team: "Here's the workflow I'm proposing for this project. We'll ingest all the camera media on set and create 1080p proxies for the offline edit. Once picture is locked, we'll conform back to the original 4K files in DaVinci Resolve for the color grade. Sound will work in parallel in Pro Tools, and we'll do the final mix in the last two weeks before delivery."
