Motion Graphics

Definition

Motion Graphics are animated graphic design elements used in film, television, and online video. They include title sequences, lower thirds (the text captions that identify people on screen), infographics, animated logos, and any other graphic element that moves or changes over time. Motion graphics are typically created using software such as Adobe After Effects, Cinema 4D, or Apple Motion.

Contextual Usage

The creative director reviews the title sequence with the motion graphics designer: "The animation of the logo feels too fast and aggressive. I want it to feel more elegant and refined — slower, with a more subtle easing. And can we try a version with the text fading in rather than sliding in?"
