KPI (Key Performance Indicator)

Definition

A Key Performance Indicator (KPI) is a measurable value that demonstrates how effectively an individual, team, or organization is achieving a key business objective. In marketing and creative operations, KPIs are used to measure the performance of campaigns, creative assets, and team workflows. Common marketing KPIs include click-through rate (CTR), conversion rate, cost per acquisition (CPA), return on ad spend (ROAS), and brand awareness metrics.

Contextual Usage

The marketing director sets the KPIs for the new campaign: "Our primary KPI is a 15% increase in online sales during the campaign period. Secondary KPIs include a 20% increase in website traffic, a 10% improvement in brand awareness scores, and a cost per acquisition of no more than $25. All our creative decisions should be made with these KPIs in mind."
