Content Strategy is the planning, development, and management of content — written, visual, audio, and video — in service of a business goal. A content strategy defines what content will be created, for whom, on which channels, with what frequency, and to what end. A well-developed content strategy ensures that all content creation efforts are aligned with the overall marketing and business strategy, that resources are allocated efficiently, and that the content produced is relevant, valuable, and consistent.
The content strategist presents the annual content strategy to the marketing team: "Our content strategy for this year is built around three pillars: education (helping our audience understand the problem we solve), inspiration (showing them what's possible with our product), and community (celebrating our customers and building a sense of belonging). Every piece of content we create should serve at least one of these three pillars."
