Content Calendar

Definition

A Content Calendar (also called an "editorial calendar") is a planning tool used by marketing and creative teams to schedule and organize the creation and publication of content across various channels. It provides a visual overview of what content will be published, on which channels, and when. A well-maintained content calendar helps teams plan ahead, maintain a consistent publishing cadence, coordinate across departments, and ensure that content is aligned with key dates, events, and marketing campaigns.

Contextual Usage

The social media manager presents the content calendar to the team: "Here's our content calendar for the next quarter. We have a post scheduled for every day across Instagram, Twitter, and LinkedIn. The content is organized by theme — Mondays are product features, Wednesdays are customer stories, and Fridays are behind-the-scenes content. I've highlighted the key campaign dates in red."
