"I adore Texcam. Even in Los Angeles it was rare that a camera/equipment rental shop was so quick, friendly, and smart. Everything I've rented from here has been complete and in good repair (not as common as you might think!). Call Texcam for 35mm, 16mm, or digital video cameras, tripods, lighting, accessories (gels, softboxes, cookies, etc.), film stock, grip gear and trucks, or anything else you need to shoot your film/video except actors and talent. Call in advance, though, because it takes about 20 minutes to set up your account the first time, and they do run out of popular things on the weekends. If you are not sure what you need, they will help you figure it out without ripping you off, even if you sound like a total spaz of an amateur. Honestly. I have sent many students there with great results. Their rates are low for the area, but they're sometimes open to negotiation, too. If you can bring proof of shoot insurance, you'll save a lot of money upfront. The location really is in a neighborhood, across from some apartments, so don't think that the address is wrong."
